Electoral Highlights from 2008
NARAL Pro-Choice Montana is very proud to say that eighty percent of our endorsed candidates were victorious and we couldn't have done this without the hundreds of members and volunteers that helped us along the way Out of seven top-tier races, six of our endorsed candidates won, giving us an 86% record of success in the races where we spent the most time, energy, and resources. In addition, all of our candidates for statewide office won their races - defeating some of the most extreme anti-choice, anti-women's health candidates on the ballot. Check out the list of winning endorsements below. We couldn't have done this without the hundreds of members and volunteers that make up our organization. You enabled us to reach out to Montana's pro-choice majority to make change right here in Big Sky Country! Below we've included some highlights from the 2008 elections that we are especially proud of. Mailed 32,600 pro-choice voter guides, reaching over 35,000 pro-choice voters in every corner of the state, featuring statewide, judicial, and legislative races. Contacted 5,000 pro-choice voters in Judicial District 1, helping to elect Kathy Seeley in a race that was won by a margin of 51-49%. Activated volunteers to make 3,700 phone calls to pro-choice voters in six targeted legislative races in support of top-tier pro-choice candidates. Made multiple contacts to 5,000 pro-choice voters in six targeted legislative races through our mail program in top-tier races. Reached out to young voters through our Students for Choice groups, distributing 250 voter guides and 150 candidate-specific postcards on campus, and had over 300 students participating in Students for Choice events in the month of October.
