Right here in Montana, women are watching their birth-control prices skyrocket. At the University of Montana's Missoula campus, birth-control prices will more than double at the start of the upcoming spring semester – so young women who were paying $20 monthly will have to start shelling out $50 just for a one-month supply of pills.
On October 17th, at the University of Montana, NARAL Pro-Choice Montana's Students for Choice volunteers collected 821 petition signatures asking Montana's senators to fix the birth control pricing crisis. Will you join with them to ensure women on Montana's campuses have access to affordable birth control?
As college students on tight budgets, this price increase will cause young women to make difficult choices with their money, possibly forcing them to go off birth control.
This is becoming a crisis situation for many young women, and we need your help to resolve it. A 2006 survey of more than 20,000 college students revealed that approximately 40 percent of those who were sexually active used the pill or another form of prescription birth control to help prevent pregnancy. Prescription birth-control methods are not only widely used, but they are also highly effective in preventing unintended pregnancies.
Please take action today and ask Congress to fix the birth-control pricing crisis!
